Light Dark is a group exhibition by members of the Orkney-based MÓTI Collective, on display from 6th - 19th of April 2024. This exhibition explores its theme both literally and figuratively, looking at light and dark from many angles through painting, photography, textiles, ceramics, printing and more.
As we inched away from winter and passed through the spring equinox, the theme of light and dark inspired the collective with many members capturing and feeding off the changing light and landscape of Orkney. While some members have found inspiration in the light, others have been drawn to the shadows looking inward to emotional darkness.
Over recent months MÓTI have been forming connections with the community on North Ronaldsay with reoccurring themes of light spanning these sister projects. As you look around you will see many links to North Ronaldsay and its landscape, lighthouse, people and sheep.
